Founded in 1957 by B. Atwood
Skinner, Skinner Lamm & Highsmith has serviced many public clients
throughout North Carolina. G. Barry Lamm joined the firm in 1961,
shortly after its founding and William T. Highsmith joined the
firm in 1975, becoming president in 1988. The firm opened a Raleigh
office in 2007. Organized into three main studios, the firm focuses
on design quality in education, government, and healthcare. Our
work has been recognized for numerous awards, including features
in American School and University Magazine.
Our creative and flexible design response to the
diverse needs of our clients has resulted in many enduring relationships.
Maintaining these relationships with our consistent quality of service
has given us experience in the development and realization of project
programming, master planning, additions and renovations, as well
as new construction. The most essential skill we offer, however,
is our absolute commitment to effective communication with all participants
involved in the design and construction process. The concerns, needs,
and desires of the users of the design product are heard, acknowledged,
and addressed by the members of our design team. This cooperation
yields the most responsible, sensitive, and successful project possible.
