Our entry to the Garner Veterans Memorial competition symbolizes Garner's veteran's sacrifices in all wars. The tone from the bell at the top of the tower emanates outward and is repeated in the radiating stone walls and circular grassed terraces. The tower’s footprint points to the four cardinal directions reminding us that veterans’ sacrifice radiates in all directions. The four circular planters surround the tower; three holding trees that symbolize the growth of freedom made possible by our veterans and one remaining empty to remind us that we too must sacrifice for future generations. Our entry was awarded second place.
